• Sageunjinhaebyeon Beach is a small and quiet beach with a coastline of 600 m, located just north of Gyeongpohaebyeon Beach.
  It has a rather unusual ambiance thanks to the small and large rock formations scattered throughout the area.
  In particular, “Meonggebawi Rock” is a large rock ideal for picnics.
  This house-sized rock helps to block the wind and sun.
  Set up your camping chair or parasol beside it and enjoy a picnic by the sea.

• One can find colorful tetrapod structures near Meonggebawi Rock. This is Gangneung Underwater Park, a renowned spot for free and scuba diving.
  It is the largest underwater park in Korea, and its observatory is famous as a photo zone.
  The stairs that lead to the observatory are shaped like an angel’s wing.
  With every step, you go closer to the top of the observatory and the sky. The observatory is not very high, but it offers a panoramic view of the sea.
  It feels like floating on a boat in the middle of the ocean.
  The mix of colors from the emerald waters, blue skies, and the vivid colors of tetrapod formations give the area a fantastic atmosphere.

Gyeongpohaebyeon Beach

Oribawi Rock and Simnibawi Rock at Gyeongpohaebyeon Beach

• Gyeongpohaebyeon Beach is one of the most famous beaches on the east coast of Korea and one of the most well-known tourist sites in Gangneung.
  The defining view of the beach is Oribawi Rock and Simnibawi Rock, which resemble sculptures lying down on the waters.
  The beach is surrounded by a lush pine grove stretching along the coastline.
  A wooden deck walkway runs between the sand beach and the pine grove, making the area accessible for visitors with baby carriages or wheelchairs.
  Wooden swings throughout the trail allow one to stop for a break and enjoy the sea view.

• Anmokhaebyeon Beach is home to the famous Gangneung Coffee Street.
  Gangneung Coffee Street refers to the row of cafes lining the 500 m-long road along the beach.
  As one walks down the street, the aroma of the sea mingles with that of coffee. One can enjoy a cup of coffee in a cafe with the ocean view,
  but taking your drink down to the beach makes it more fragrant.
  Some cafes at Anmokhaebyeon Beach rent out picnic equipment along with beverages.
  Take your cup and picnic mat to the beach to open your very own cafe by the sea.
