Wolhwa Street is a path built on a derelict railway that begins at Gangneung Station and runs across the city center.
On weekend nights, Wolhwa Street’s beautiful night view is supplemented by a night market filled with food options.
The night market is open from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. every Friday and Saturday.
Because of its location at the heart of Gangneung city center,
Wolhwa Street Night Market is loved by tourists and Gangneung residents alike.
The night market is divided into two areas,
one specializing in food and the other hosting a flea market selling handicrafts.
First, look around the market to see what food options and handicrafts are available.
Even if you have nothing to buy, it is fun to look around.
The highlights include butter-grilled octopus, handmade red snow crab burger,
deep-fried and braised monkfish, soft bean curd salad, sweet rice balls, and other unique dishes to Gangneung.
Another exciting feature of this night market is that it has a great variety of dishes
from around the world, such as Vietnamese, Filipino, German, and Indian dessert beverages.
Avid travelers may be able to rediscover their fond memories at Wolhwa Street Night Market.
Pick the dishes you want, then enjoy them at standing tables.
Head to the flea market for handmade crafts and desserts.
Food items are available in the food area, while drinks are served in the flea market.
You can enjoy your lassi or chai and imagine yourself in India or
look around for handicrafts made by local Gangneung artisans.
There are plenty of things to choose from as your souvenir in Gangneung.

Right next to the flea market is a stage that makes the night market even more exciting.
On weekend nights, buskers perform under the moonlight.
Enjoy the live performances of musicians at Wolhwa Street.
Wolhwa Street has plenty of spots for night views.
When you head toward Namdaecheon Stream from Wolhwa Street,
you will find a tunnel made of brilliant lights.
This “Tunnel of Light” is a beautiful photo area with constantly changing lights.
Climb the zigzag stairs toward Namdaecheon Stream to find the brilliantly lit Wolhwagyo Bridge.
The highlight of Wolhwa Street at night is the musical fountain show held at Wolhwagyo Bridge,
which crosses Gangneung’s Namdaecheon Stream.
Every evening, for 30 minutes, dancing lights and fountains grace
both sides of Wolhwagyo Bridge above the Namdaecheon Stream.
You can get a good view of the water jets from the sides.
Different angles have different charms,
but you will surely enjoy a fantastic show regardless of the angle.
