#2023 Gangneung Coffee Festival

-
Gangneung is the only city in South Korea with remaining tea culture sites to this day.
Many coffee masters also work as baristas, making it easy to find delicious coffee everywhere in Gangneung.
As such, Gangneung has become the center of coffee culture in Korea,
and every fall, the city hosts the aromatic Gangneung Coffee Festival.
The 15th Gangneung Coffee Festival will be held for four days from October 12 to 15 this year.

-
Famous coffee companies from all over the country, including those in Gangneung,
will attend a free coffee-tasting event where you can try a variety of coffee.
Seminars in which you can learn from the best coffee masters in Korea are held as well.
A contest in latte art, hand drip, roasting, and other techniques will also be held for baristas.

-
There are also various cultural events, including special concerts,
family-friendly programs, and coffee-related activities.
The main venue, Gangneung Oval, will host 200 booths and events
such as coffee awards, exhibitions, automated shops, and more.

The highlight of the festival is the “100 People 100 Tastes: Barista Hand Drip Performance.”
Like its title, the event features 100 baristas making hand drip simultaneously, brewing 100 different cups of coffee.
The performance ends with visitors sampling the 100 cups of coffee made by baristas,
and anyone can take part as a barista in the show. If you want to participate in the festival,
you can sign up by September 15 on the Gangneung Coffee Festival web page.
Participants will be able to win their very own commemorative apron and cup.
