As the summer season kicks off, 17 beaches in Gangneung have opened their shores to visitors. Among them, Gyeongpo Beach, a hallmark of the East Sea coastline, has garnered rave reviews for its diverse water play facilities. The beach has transformed into a water park featuring seawater pools, waterslides, and diving facilities.
The iconic Oribawi Rock is a prominent landmark of Gyeongpo Beach, easily visible from the shore. While typically admired from a distance, during the beach season, visitors can dive from the rock. A pontoon bridge will be available, providing easy access to the Oribawi Rock.
To dive from it, you need to register on-site. The rock is about 200 meters from the beach. You’ll be required to wear a life jacket and walk along the 120-meter pontoon bridge extending into the sea. Safety is a priority—trained personnel will be there to accompany you. Once you reach the end of the pontoon, it’s just a 70–80-meter swim to the diving platform.
The diving platform height is about 1.8 meters, which is not very high. Visitors can enjoy diving under the guidance of trained safety personnel. For your safety, jet skis and rescue boats escort the area so you can safely dive. Take the plunge from the scenic Oribawi Rock and immerse yourself in the charm of Gyeongpo Beach.
If you’re uncomfortable diving or swimming in the sea, you can still enjoy walking along the pontoon bridge while wearing a life jacket. Experience the thrill of walking on water and discover what makes Gyeongpo Beach so special.
Gyeongpo Beach’s sandy shore is equipped with extensive water play facilities designed for families. There are three seawater pools, a large 30-meter waterslide, and a mini waterslide. Both children and adults are welcome to enjoy these attractions. Entry is free.
Even when the waves are high, you can safely enjoy the seawater pools. These various attractions are especially popular with children. Enjoy the excitement of water activities right by the beach.
Torn between the sea and a water park? At Gyeongpo Beach, you can enjoy the best of both worlds.
