About the World Choir Games 2023 Gangneung
The World Choir Games, a biennial event organized by the German Interkultur Foundation, was launched in Austria in 2000. The World Choir Games 2023 is set to be held in Gangwon state and Gangneung City starting on July 3. Gangneung is a city of tourism, culture, and art that’s filled with the pleasant fragrances of coffee, the sea, and pine trees, and it is a city full of diverse charms where there are beautiful traces of a thousand years of history.
It is the second city in Korea to host the World Choir Games following Busan in 2002. It is also where PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games were held and became a historic “Peaceful Olympics” with the athletes from North and South Korean teams walking into the stadium together during the opening ceremony and the formation of an inter-Korean team for one of the events. The World Choir Games 2023 set to be held under the theme of “Peace and Prosperity” inherited from the Winter Olympics will be a special event where the chorus of world peace will be completed by turning the inter-Korean conflict into peace.
