"Ojukheon House" is a representative historic site of Gangneung as the home of Yulgok Il, the great scholar of the Joseon Dynasty. "Ojukheon House" has "Munseongsa Shrine" for enshrining the deceased Yulgok, "Eojegak" for holding the articles left by Yulgok, "Yulgok Memorial Hall" and "Relics Exhibition Hall" of Yulgok family. "Ojukheon House" is the oldest building out of the Korean houses and has been recognized valuable in terms of architecture.
Tourist Tips
"Ojukheon House" is located at Jukheon-dong of Gyeongpoho Lake. It was named after the fact that there were black bamboo trees with finger-sized stems in its backyard. As its neighboring tourist site, there are "Chamsori Gramophone & Edison Science Museum" and "Haslla Art World." "Haslla Art World" is located at a high coastal cliff and contains various cultural art contents, so that its visitors can enjoy a sightseeing in harmony with beautiful nature within a short period of time.
Introduction
"Ojukheon House," is located at Jukheon-dong, Gangneung-si. It is a wooden building of the Mid-Joseon Dynasty and designated as National Treasure No. 165. As a building type of Joseon Dynasty, it consists of the front side of three parts and the side of two parts. It is famous as the place where Shin Saimdang and Yulgok Yi l were born.
