Seongyojang House was given its name based on a story that in ancient times, a bridge was built across Gyeongpo Lake using boats. Seongyojang, a 300-year-old old house featuring the typical architectural style of traditional houses of the gentry during the Joseon Dynasty, has been in the family for over ten generations.
Beyond the main gate, the tranquil and elegant home will provide a pleasant solace. Yeolhwadang, which means a “house where there are pleasant conversations,” was a place where people gathered to discuss learning and the arts. Located on the side of a pond that is full of lotus leaves and flowers, Hallaejeong, which appears as though it is floating on the pond, was always wide open to welcome guests. When you climb up the mountain trail, you will arrive where you can take in an unobstructed view of Seongyojang House.

They offer Hanok Stay for people to experience the beauty of hanok (A type of traditional Korean house first designed and built in the 14th century during the Joseon Dynasty), or traditional Korean house, by staying at the house. The dasik (tea confectionery)-making program is arguably the most popular and famous program, and other experience programs include making baedari, based on which one can learn the etymology of Seongyojang, and trying on hanbok, which reminds people of the beauty of the traditional Korean attire. The Wednesday Music Stroll is a concert held on the outdoor stage every Wednesday for people to appreciate the beauty of hanok along with the music produced by traditional Korean instruments.
